I am a wife, an entrepreneur and a Survivor of childhood sexual abuse. I am work in progress. I am black and was adopted by a white family. My biological mother abandoned me when I was around 18 months. Social services put me into care. My adoptive father abused me from 6 years of age. He died several years ago. I met my biological mother and she died several years ago. I married the most loving, kind and generous man you could ever meet in 2011. My adoptive mother—the wife of my abuser—died in May 2016. Her death has released me from the shadows and given me permission to speak publicly about my journey.
